TRI DELTA VOTERS ASSOCIATION

The TriDelta Voters Association, formed over ten years ago, is a Delta, British Columbia based community association whose objective is to encourage and support competent, democratic and ethical government for the Municipality of Delta. Specifically TriDelta believes that Municipal Government should operate within a set of performance goals to ensure that:

  1. development in the Municipality of Delta is planned, controlled and regulated in accordance with citizen input and public acceptance;

  2. all Delta land zoned for agriculture is protected for future use for soil-based agriculture;

  3. the natural beauty of the Municipality is preserved, the quality of life is preserved, and the environment is protected for the benefit of both the residents and the wildlife;

  4. the Delta municipal works and services are efficient, safe and cost effective;

  5. Delta municipal taxes are set in a fair and logical manner and are mitigated by: adequate cost controls based on long-term analysis; a consistent conservative debt structure fair to both present and future taxpayers; and development cost charges and rezoning fees contribute fairly to the costs of development (including reductions in the quality of life) to the Municipality of Delta;

  6. the Delta municipal council and administration diligently serve the interests of the electorate in an honest, fair, open and fiscally responsible manner;

  7. dealings with other governments and jurisdictions are conducted in an open, fair manner and the interests of Delta residents are safeguarded;

  8. the municipal council and staff, in the fulfillment of their municipal duties, primarily focus their efforts on municipal government business rather than involving the Municipality directly in competitive business in the private sector;

  9. the affairs of the Municipality are directed by the mayor and council as the people’s elected representatives, rather than by a non-elected bureaucracy.
